If you get all hot and bothered by the idea of datalogging and temperature monitoring and thrust throttling – this is what you want to buy.

I will flash it with the latest firmware before shipping out. If you are just a regular Joe scratching your head looking at this thing dont worry – you dont need all this fanciness. The latest V2 version will serve your purposes and you wont have to worry about all these extra plugs. Later if you develop a taste you can always put the V2 on your wife’s bike and splurge on a V3.

You know we are going to throw our old V2′s in the river and strap these on… because we are spoiled over here….

This is the version 1.5 HVC breaker – reworked with many new features. It is fully potted into an aluminum housing – the four IRFB4110 fets are heat sunk and the circuit has been revised to allow the unit to act as a charge or discharge breaker. These units can handle 70A continuous current – at that rate they get about a 65C temperature rise. The wires are 10AWG silicone from Hobby City and when pared with 45A anderson they get quite warm but are safe. We burn in each unit at 100V 100A for 1 minute… I will have more data up in the coming days as I have time to do more controlled tests. We test these up to 120V for charging but if you want to go higher we can talk about it.

So this unit is a drop in replacement for any V1.0 HVC Breaker – the only difference is that it is now more reliable and capable. I dont want to advertise it as such at the moment… but these are capable of operating as LVC Breakers between your battery and controller. I want to do a little more testing before I advertise them as such – but email me if you want to talk about it. We will probably rate them from 30V – 100V @ 70A continuous with a generous burst current. I am sure short bursts of 150A+ wont hurt it much.

The production units are potted with a black epoxy – the JST-XH connector is packed with dielectric grease before potting so it can be removed and or serviced. The reset button is connectorized with JST-SM-2 pigtails. There is a slight texture pattern to the epoxy finish and this is a result of the dielectric grease interacting with the epoxy – we are trying to find a clever way to avoid this but have not yet.

It is highly recommended that you build a “trigger button”. This is a button that you can press to simulate an HVC event. It is very handle to cycle the unit back and forth between triggered and reset. This can be accomplished by soldering in a button between pins 4 and 5 (where pin 6 is the red wire). The button should be momentary and normally open. Press it and you will hear the system “click” and current will stop flowing. This is the best way to test your circuit to ensure it is working as designed. Later I think I will make some test cables and put them up for a reasonable cost – or maybe just include them.

UPDATE: This is version 2.0

Sorry for the horrid pictures – > I should be ashamed of myself. Works exactly the same as V1.0 but has a better potting mold and a 20% price drop.

This is a 3 speed switch. The idea is that you wire it into your throttle so that you can increase your resolution and lower your power. For high power bikes the throttle can become so touchy that it is almost impossible to ride… with a switch like this you can scale your throttle to say… 50%. Now full throttle is equivalent to normal 1/2 throttle. This doubles your resolution, cuts your top speed in half, but still retains your full current limit (thrust capability).

This is exactly what you want for a monster ebike. Flipping the switch to LOW is perfect for technical trails where you need full thrust but low speed and high resolution (say… 25%). Normal riding is good for Medium where economy is important and you dont have any intention to go 70mph. When you want to show off for your friends and smash your face you can set it to 100% and wreck.

This piece was put together by Matthew at Custom Link Technologies. It has two potentiometers to set speeds LOW and MEDIUM while HIGH is fixed at 100%

HIGH = normal throttle

MEDIUM = adjustable range

LOW = adjustable range

They are potted in epoxy and tested. They were designed to be plug-n-play with Ebikes.ca standards as well as Crystalyte and many others. If you run a different connector configuration let us know and we can help you wire it up (DO NOT FOLLOW THE COLOR CODE!)

These will work with *ANY* controller – not just an Infineon. You dont need to program anything – just plug this inline with your throttle, jack up your wheel, and set the potentiometers

Price includes the switch, potted adjustment assembly, and plug-n-play connectors. If you have any suggestions for funny translations please let us know.

THESE ARE IN STOCK -

But we are selling through a different PayPal account – details below

We are opening up each motor and installing a temperature probe – more specifically a 10K NTC Thermister. This probe will have a JST-SM-2 connector so as to be PLUG AND PLAY COMPATIBLE with the new CA-V3.

THIS MEANS THAT YOU NEVER HAVE TO BLOW ANOTHER MOTOR

With the CA-V3 you can set the temperature at which you want to start retarding power and the maximum temperature where you want the motor to be shut down and protected. This is what you want.

We are adding $50 to the standard CroMotor price – for this we disassemble your motor, build up an 10K NTC harness, epoxy the sensor into your windings, reassemble the motor, and finally we test every motor on a test stand to ensure no rubbing or issues.

We warranty manufacturing defects – i.e. broken axles, DOA, broken freewheel mount, etc. We do not warranty overheated or burnt motors. If you use a CA-V3 and our temperature sensor you will NEVER burn your motor up – that is a promise from me to you.

Here is some information on the CA-V3: http://www.ebikes.ca/store/store_CAV3.php

Here is my competitors ad where he sells these motors with no temperature protection for less: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46832

Here is some info from the Manufacturer: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46551

We can work out any odd shipping details via Email – You will be charged $30 for domestic or $100 for international. If your shipping situation is higher than what I am charging I will refund your payment and then we can negotiate a fair shipping price. Thanks! – MethodsTechnology@gmail.com
